Chocolate Chip Toffee Bars

There is nothing fancy about these Chocolate Chip Toffee Bars. The best thing about Chocolate Chip Toffee Bars is their taste and the fact that they make a large pan of bars. If you need a quick bar for a party or potluck, this is your ticket. They take about 5 minutes to stir up and 22 minutes to bake. You don't even use eggs for these bars. Did I mention how good they taste?

Our family has been making these bars for a long time. I got the recipe from my mom's cookbook. Most of the ingredients are probably in your pantry or your fridge unless you keep butter in your pantry. To start add the butter and brown sugar to a stand mixer bowl. You could also use a bowl and hand mixer.

Turn your mixer on to medium and mix until the butter and brown sugar are combined. This should take about 1 to 2 minutes. Once the butter and sugar are mixed together you can add the vanilla.

Next, measure 2 cups flour and add it to the mixing bowl.

Wow! What a picture. SLOWLY mix the flour in with the butter/sugar mixture. Mix until combined, this may take a minute...Add in your chocolate chips and nuts.

Once everything is combined together your dough should look just like this...

Next up please line your baking sheet with parchment paper. But, do not use non stick spray. I repeat do not use non stick spray. Next go ahead and dump the Chocolate Chip Toffee Bar dough onto the baking sheet. Use your hands or a rolling pin to press the dough on the baking sheet until it is evenly distributed.

As you can see my bars look less than perfect. But no worries as it all changes when they bake. Bake the bars at 350° for 22 minutes. This is how your finished pan of Chocolate Chip Toffee Bars should look. Nothing fancy at all but, they taste great!

Cool for 5 minutes and then cut into bars. I usually cut the bars fairly small. But, perhaps you like a bigger bar? If so, then cut them big!

Missy's Memos

  • Do not overbake the bars.

  • I use milk chocolate chips but you can use semi-sweet if you prefer.
